Montreal, January 26, 2022 – Once again this year, fdp (Professionals’ Financial) distinguished itself by winning 2021 FundGrade A+® Awards from Fundata Canada Inc. This year, two of our portfolios earned these distinctions for superior risk-adjusted returns throughout the year:
- The FDP Balanced Income Portfolio, Series A– Received a FundGrade A+® rating for the fifth time in the past eight years in the Canadian Fixed Income Balanced category, which includes 289 funds;
- The FDP Balanced Portfolio, Series A– Received a FundGrade A+® rating for a third consecutive year, in the Canadian Neutral Balanced category, which comprises 290 funds.
This industry recognition is very important since fdp has now been ranked on the prestigious Fundata list in seven of the last eight years.
Select funds, outstanding managers
The success of fdp in terms of fund returns is no accident. It testifies to the high level of expertise of its managers, which has enabled our funds to produce steady and, indeed, excellent returns in an environment punctuated by market swings.
“We are particularly proud to have earned these industry recognitions, especially considering the market volatility caused by the latest waves of the pandemic. It is thanks to the expertise of our managers that we were able to stay the course and effectively manage risk,” explains François Landry, Vice-President and Chief Investment Officer of fdp.
Highly prized in the industry, the FundGrade A+® Awards are presented to Canadian investment funds that are not only the top performers, but that also systematically maintained outstanding risk-adjusted returns throughout the previous calendar year. Only 6% of all the funds on the Canadian market achieve this elite status.

About the Fundata FundGrade A+® Rating
FundGrade A+® is used with permission from Fundata Canada Inc., all rights reserved. The annual FundGrade A+® Awards are presented by Fundata Canada Inc. to recognize the “best of the best” among Canadian investment funds. The FundGrade A+® calculation is supplemental to the monthly FundGrade ratings and is calculated at the end of each calendar year. The FundGrade rating system evaluates funds based on their risk-adjusted performance, measured by Sharpe Ratio, Sortino Ratio, and Information Ratio. The score for each ratio is calculated individually, covering all time periods from 2 to 10 years. The scores are then weighted equally in calculating a monthly FundGrade. The top 10% of funds earn an A Grade; the next 20% of funds earn a B Grade; the next 40% of funds earn a C Grade; the next 20% of funds receive a D Grade; and the lowest 10% of funds receive an E Grade. To be eligible, a fund must have received a FundGrade rating every month in the previous year. The FundGrade A+® uses a GPA-style calculation, where each monthly FundGrade from “A” to “E” receives a score from 4 to 0, respectively. A fund’s average score for the year determines its GPA. Any fund with a GPA of 3.5 or greater is awarded a FundGrade A+® Award. For more information, see www.FundGradeAwards.com.
