Vice-President, Strategic Initiatives and Corporate Development
As Vice-President, Strategic Initiatives and Corporate Development, Bernard Fortin plays a key role in defining fdp Private Management’s vision, mission and objectives. In conjunction with the President and CEO, and in concert with the Board of Directors, he provides leadership in the development of strategic plans to identify and seize growth opportunities for the firm. At the same time, he coordinates, assesses and adjusts complex project actions arising from the firm’s strategic orientations.
Mr. Fortin has extensive experience in financial services, having held various strategic management positions with Desjardins from 1997 to 2015 in the areas of business development, asset management and wealth management. In addition to earning an Executive MBA in financial services from the Université du Québec à Montréal, he is a Fellow, Institute of Canadian Bankers (FICB) and holds a financial planning certificate from Université Laval. He also did doctoral studies in business administration with a major in management at Université Laval. He has obtained the Fellow of Canadian Securities Institute designation and is a member of the Ordre professionnel des administrateurs agréés du Québec. He was a member of the Institut de planification financière (IPF) Board of Directors from March 2020 to 2024 and served as Vice-Chair from June 2020 to June 2022, and as Chair for the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 terms.
