According to a 2019 survey on elder abuse, nearly 11,000 Quebecers aged 65 and over had suffered some form of financial or material abuse over a 12-month period. Consequently, once Bill 18 is passed, it will among other things oblige the mandatary designated in a protection mandate to render an account to the person designated for this purpose.
